About Me

Welcome to my digital home! My name is Blaid 👋🏿

I am a twenty-something software engineer based in Los Angeles, CA, but I am also passionate about doing my part to close the racial equity gap.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have learned many skills required to navigate the digital space. I’ve led an Employee Resource Group for Black people, worked with my companies CEO to prioritize Black equity, and successfully navigated my own Blackness, while still remaining a great Software Engineer. Recently I’ve been thinking, what’s the best way for me to share what I’ve learned so far? Well, I guess that’s what blogs are for right?

…and I know you’re thinking, everybody (mothers included) has a blog these days, why would I care about yours?

Sadly, when I take inventory of my former co-worker, classmates, professors, etc. I can count the number of Black people I have encountered on a few hands. Why is that? This is completely different from how I grew up, and I want to help to solve that mystery. My goal in sharing is that I can help develop a blueprint for more Black people to enter the tech space.

That said, my perspective is unique. Through candidly sharing my journey in tech I aim to accelerate the learning curve and provide a safe space for the readers to share.

Follow along as I share some of my random findings and pointed journals in hopes that it inspires and motivates you to secure the bag!
